Jewellery Materials

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED IN OUR JEWELLERY

Gold plated

All our gold jewellery is made from high quality stainless steel, then plated with 18k gold using a technique called PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition).

Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating is a pivotal technology enhancing product durability and aesthetics. The process begins with the creation of a vacuum environment within a chamber, where the substrate to be coated is placed. Solid materials, known as 'targets,' are then vaporised using techniques such as sputtering or evaporation.

These vaporised atoms or molecules travel through the vacuum, depositing onto the substrate's surface. This technique allows for precise surface property modifications, improving wear resistance and corrosion resistance, offering unmatched versatility.

Furthermore, PVD coating is environmentally favourable, employing a sustainable process that aligns with green manufacturing practices. This makes it a critical component in achieving higher quality, durable products with a minimal ecological impact.

Sterling silver

All our silver jewellery is made from 925 sterling silver. The 925 represents 92.5% minimum pure silver. As pure silver is soft and malleable, (making it prone to breakage), 7.5 % is made up of other metals. This helps silver remain durable and suitable for everyday use.

Freshwater Pearls

Our freshwater pearls are collected from shells raised in freshwater environments; it is normal to have marks on them as they are natural.

All materials used for each piece are listed in each product description.
